Foraging Frenzy!

Foraging does not have to be hard, super involved, or complicated! Some of my bird’s favorite foraging toys are super simple like hiding treats around the room, under a cup, or her favorite: a foraging tray! I got this little tray at the dollar store, filled it with crinkle paper and toy parts and then just sprinkled a few snacks on top! This can also be done with plastic ice cube trays for extra enrichment! Most birds love this form of enrichment, and can be very beneficial to their overall health. When we think of foraging, we always think of the larger parrots, like Macaws and Greys, but it is just as important for the little guys, too! A lot of the smaller species are natural ground foragers, so offering a foraging tray is incredible enrichment to let them perform their natural behaviors at a lower level. Try this with your finches, doves, and canaries, too!
