Volunteering at SBF!
We just recently opened up our volunteer program here at Sugarcreek Bird Farm. Please be patient with us as we try to accommodate everyone who would like to be a volunteer.
We are looking for people ages 14 and up to help out at our store. No experience with birds is necessary, but you must be able to listen and follow directions. Any volunteer must also realize that these are live animals with their own personality, and there is always a chance you may be bit/scratched by a bird.
We have three main aspects to our volunteer program at the moment:
Socializing with the birds
Toy/Treat Making for birds
Watching the outdoor aviary
(once it reopens)
The most important thing to keep in mind is that volunteering with us is first and foremost for the birds themselves. We cannot promise that you will get to work directly with the exact bird or types of birds you want to. The goal of this program is to help socialize birds that need an extra bit of attention, and help make toys/treats for all the birds to enjoy. If you're looking to only play with one or two certain birds, we ask that you wait for our aviary to open later this year while we are open.
If it sounds like volunteering at SBF is right for you, we ask that you fill out the form below. Every volunteer must take part in a Volunteer Orientation and sign a liability waiver before they start. No mater how much or how little experience you have with birds, we need to ensure everyone understands our rules that we have in place to keep our birds safe.
We will be adding more Volunteer Orientation dates in the future. To be notified when new dates are added, please sign up by clicking here.
