Volunteering at SBF!

Join us in our Volunteer Program, now accepting new volunteers! We are looking for people ages 14 and up to help out at our store. No experience with birds is necessary, but you must be able to listen and follow directions.  Any volunteer must also realize that these are live animals with their own personality, and there is always a chance you may be bit/scratched by a bird.

We have three main aspects to our volunteer program at the moment:

Socializing with the birds

Toy/Treat Making for birds

Watching the outdoor aviary

The most important thing to keep in mind is that volunteering with us is first and foremost for the birds themselves.  We cannot promise that you will get to work directly with the exact bird or types of birds you want to.  The goal of this program is to help socialize birds that need an extra bit of attention, and help make toys/treats for all the birds to enjoy.  If you're looking to only play with one or two certain birds, we ask that you come to our open times in the aviary.

If it sounds like volunteering at SBF is right for you, we ask that you fill out the form below.  Every volunteer must take part in a Volunteer Orientation and sign a liability waiver before they start.  No matter how much or how little experience you have with birds, we need to ensure everyone understands our rules that we have in place to keep our birds safe.

Our next Volunteer Orientation will be on Tuesday, March 14th at 6 PM via Google Meet. You can sign up for the orientation through the button below.

To ensure everyone's safety, we will be doing a virtual orientation via Google Meet. Google Meet can be accessed via any web browser on a computer, or an app on the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store. The URL/code for the the orientation will be sent out 1 hour before the start of the meeting. No camera or microphone is required, and all questions can be type in a chat.
